Are you Being YOU?

I've had recently a couple of thoughts collide which have drawn me into this encouragement for you -read below...

"He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ's followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ's body, the church, until we're all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God's Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ."  (Ephesians 2:12-13)

Conclusion: All of us, believers, have a gift from God.  His Spirit gives us all gifts for the purpose of being fully alive.  God has gifted you in ways He hasn't gifted me, and vice versa.  There's only one you on this planet - combine your Spiritual gift with the other ways he's made you - your personality, your emotions and passions, your desires, your experiences, your values and motivations - all of that combined comes together to be the miracle that is YOU.

I'm reading a book called True North by Bill George and in this book one of the main points he makes is that for leaders to lead well, they must be authentic.  Read this quote from CEO Lynn Foreser de Rothschild;

"Being trut to yourself is the most important thing.  If you're ambitous, that's great; if not, that's also fine.  Just be true to what you want...Know who you are, and you can achieve anything in life."

Now as believers, it's important we know who we are in two ways; 1) we must always remember who we are in Christ - He has changed our identity forever...the old has gone, the new has come; but 2) we must learn about ourselves and our gifts so that we can run fast and run free.  We need you, believer, to run fast and free.

So how about it?  How has God wired you?  Do you know yourself?  Ask/answer these questions and it will help you get started...
- When do you feel most alive?
- When you fell most alive, where are you, what are you doing, and who are you with?
- If you asked others about how you're gifted and wired, what would they say?
- Do you have a passion, something that gets you fired up every time you think about it?

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Cor 5:17)
